We piloted a brand new market in May - and it it returned for a second outing in October.
Loughborough KickStart Market provided a place for new traders and entrepreneurs.
The pilot market was for people aged 16-30, who live or study in Charnwood, and are interested in either becoming a market trader or trying out running a market stall to support their new business. Participants were also encouraged to take a stall to sell wares or display their work.
The pilot took place on Sunday, 26 May, between 10am-4pm, in Loughborough Market Place. It was run by the markets team at the Council.
Alongside a small number of market stalls, Loughborough KickStart Market also hosted a range of food outlets and entertainment including live music.
The markets team arranged public liability insurance for young traders. Anyone under 18 had to be accompanied by an adult.
The Council promoted the event to attract people along, and issued this news story after the event.
A second Loughborough KickStart Market was held on Sunday, 20 October. This time, the event was open to over-30s as well, and attracted a total of 46 traders on 53 stalls.
It is hoped that further markets of its kind may be held in the future.
