Drug use and dealing are criminal offences and should be reported to the Police immediately.

Needles, syringes, and other drug related litter left on either council owned land or adopted public highways can be removed by the Council.

What you can do to help resolve the issue

When you make your report to the Police be prepared and have information to hand on:

  • Who is doing it.
  • When the incident happened (date and time).
  • How often the incidents have happened.

If you find a needle, syringe, or any drug-related litter on either council owned land or adopted public highways, please let us know and we will arrange to have them removed.

It is especially important that you contact us straight away. The items may pose a danger to the public, so we will need to dispose of them quickly.

If you find a needle, syringe, or any drug-related litter on privately owned land, it is the responsibility of the landowner to arrange appropriate disposal.

Who you need to speak to

You can report it via the Leicestershire Police website, or by calling 101, the non-emergency Police number.

If someone is in immediate danger, or you believe a crime is in progress you should call 999 now. 

If you do not feel comfortable talking directly to the Police, you can report it online. You can remain anonymous if you wish.

Crimestoppers is a national organisation that allows victims or anyone with any information about crime to report it anonymously.

If the incident involves a Council property when you’ve reported the issue it to the Police, please report it to us.  On your report, please specify the details of the incident, your incident report number, and the name of the Police officer you spoke to.
