The recycling collection reduces the amount of items going into landfill and helps to increase the amount of resources that can be recycled into other items.
Please note: Bins should be presented before 6am on collection days at your property boundary – this is where your property meets the pavement. There are some exceptions for assisted collections when our waste partners Serco have permission to go onto the property to collect the bins.
How to present your recycling
- Empty, rinse and dry all bottles, jars and containers and place lids back on
- Flatten cardboard* and cartons – keep it dry
- Place lids back on all bottles, jars and cartons
- Items should go in loose
- All packaging should be empty
*Large pieces of flattened card can be left by the side of your recycling bin
What can or cannot be recycled?
For information on what can and cannot be recycled in your green bin, head to our recycling guide webpage or visit the Less Waste website.
Please note: Black plastics are not recyclable, so please do not put these in your recycling.
What to do if your bin is full
If you frequently produce additional recycling then you can contact us to request recycling sacks using the form below.
Report a missed collection
Your items may have been missed for one of the following reasons. The council will not return for items where:

- Our crew could not access the items

If your items were missed, and it wasn't due to one of the reasons above, you can let us know by using the online form below.
Please do not report a missed collection until after 5pm on the day of collection. This will give our contractor time to complete all of their routes.
