There are four Environment Agency flood alerts in place affecting the Charnwood area.

This means flooding is possible.

A Met Office yellow warning for rain is in place for Thursday and Friday for areas including Leicestershire.

The Environment Agency has today updated flood alerts for the area. The time of the update is in brackets and we have summarised the updates below.

Lower River Soar in Leicestershire (4.55pm)

River levels are rising at the Pillings Lock river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Slash Lane at Sileby, the Mountsorrel to Sileby Road, the B5328 Cossington Road and the access road to Sileby Mill, and farmlands at Cossington, Sileby, Barrow, Quorn and Cotes.

Rothley Brook, Quorn Brook and Sileby Brook (4.11pm)

River levels are rising at the Glenfield river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from 08:00 tomorrow morning, 26/09/24. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including the Morrisons parks at Glenfield and Anstey. Low-lying land and farmlands in the Glenfield, Anstey, Sileby, Thurcaston, Rothley, Newtown Linford, Cropston, Swithland and Quorn areas.

River Wreake (1.47pm)

River levels have risen at the Brentingby Dam river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Mill Lane and Water Lane at Frisby on the Wreake, Station Road at Thrussington, Broome Lane at Ratcliffe on the Wreake, Frisby, farmlands at Hoby, Brooksby, Thrussington, Ratcliffe and Syston.

Upper Soar catchment (4.11pm)

This catchment mostly covers Leicester but stretches into the south of Charnwood, including Birstall, Thurmaston and Wanlip.

River levels are rising at the Sharnford river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from 21:00 this evening, 25/09/24. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Sharnford, Croft, Littlethorpe, the Mill on the Soar car park and Falconry.
