Residents of Charnwood were invited to honour those who served and sacrificed themselves in the line of duty this Remembrance Sunday.

The Remembrance Sunday service took place on Sunday, 10 November 2024 at the Carillon Tower War Memorial in Queen's Park, Loughborough.

The Remembrance Sunday Parade started in the Market Place at 10.20am and made its way through the town centre and to the Carillon Tower, where the service began at 10.50am.

The service was led by The Reverend Elizabeth York, Lead Chaplain, Loughborough University, Chaplain to Royal British Legion, Loughborough Branch, and The Right Reverend Saju Muthalaly, Bishop of Loughborough.

For visitors in the park, for the first time there were two big TV screens each side of the Carillon Tower broadcasting the service.

For those who could not attend the service, Charnwood Borough Council live-streamed the service on its YouTube channel and provided updates on social media.

The full service can watched below. Please note: The coverage begins at 25 minute and 16 second mark.

2024 Poppy Appeal by the Royal British Legion

Every year, the Royal British Legion has a Poppy Appeal for people to donate to. All of the money raised goes to the RBL to help provide support for members of the Armed Forces community. The RBL support the most vulnerable in our society, be it older veterans that they care for, those who suffer from social isolation, or those who are simply overwhelmed by the challenges associated with the cost-of-living crisis.

If you would like to donate, you can do so at the RBL website.
