A weekend of fun for all ages will be taking place in Southfields Park in Loughborough with a brand-new event this June.

Celebrating Charnwood will be held on Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30. This new annual summer event coincides this year with the borough’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

The two-day event, organised by Charnwood Borough Council and supported by sponsor, Loughborough Schools Foundation, will include outdoor cinema screenings, family-focused fairground rides and food and drink stalls.

Military personnel will also be attending the event on Saturday June 29 as part of Armed Forces Day 2024. They will be running activities throughout the day and military vehicles will be present for visitors to view.

Chris Grace, head of economic development and regeneration at Charnwood Borough Council, said: “We are excited to launch the Celebrating Charnwood event which will bring visitors and residents to Southfields Park in what I’m sure will be an enjoyable and memorable weekend.

“We have expanded the events programme for 2024 and this new event offers visitors huge variety. With the outdoor cinema screen, fairground rides and different activities, there is certainly something for all the family to enjoy.”

The event will take place from 12pm-8pm on Saturday, June 29 and 12pm-6pm on Sunday, June 30.

There will be three cinema screenings taking place each day. The borough council held a vote on its social media channels for residents to have their say on the films they would like to watch.
