Sporting achievements to be celebrated with the Charnwood Sports Awards

The sporting achievements of individuals, clubs and volunteers will be celebrated at this year’s Charnwood Sports Awards.

Nominations are now open for the awards which are run by Charnwood Borough Council.

The awards are in their 14th year and will also highlight workplaces and schools in the borough which are making a difference to the health and wellbeing of residents.

Charnwood residents can nominate their sporting stars across a range of categories including two new categories this year which are Team of the Year and the Generation Charnwood Inspiration Award.

Peter Oliver, director of housing and wellbeing at Charnwood Borough Council, said: “I am pleased to see the Charnwood Sports Awards return once again in what is a special opportunity for us to celebrate the sporting achievements of our residents.

“These awards give you the chance to show your appreciation for volunteers, clubs, groups and individuals that are doing so much in our community, not just with sport but also with promoting health and wellbeing.

“I would encourage everyone to nominate those whose achievements deserve to be recognised and celebrated.”

This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Burleigh Court in Loughborough.

The deadline for nominations is midnight on Friday, October 4, 2024.

An exciting summer of sport is approaching with a number of athletes from Loughborough University representing their country at the summer Olympic and Paralympic games.

Nominations for the awards are now open and there are eleven categories including:

  • Let's Get Moving Schools Award
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Senior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Let’s Get Moving Junior Ambassador of the Year
  • Let’s Get Moving Senior Ambassador of the Year
  • Outstanding Contribution to Sport, Physical Activity and Health
  • Club of the Year
  • Let’s Get Moving Wellbeing at Work Award
  • Joe Humphries Memorial Trust Award
  • Team of the Year
  • Generation Charnwood Inspiration Award
