Charnwood residents are being encouraged to thank those that continue to go above and beyond in the borough.

Charnwood Community Heroes recognises those in the local community who have carried out a good deed – no matter how small or large.

This year’s awards are extra special with Charnwood’s 50th anniversary being celebrated with a new category, to find those people who make an outstanding contribution in the borough.

The deadline for entries is Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

The awards are run by Charnwood Borough Council and an awards ceremony will be held at Burleigh Court in Loughborough on Saturday September 28, 2024.

Charnwood Community Heroes is being kindly supported by Serco, 1284 and idverde.

Cllr Liz Blackshaw, the Council’s lead member for communities and neighbourhoods, said: “Charnwood Community Heroes is such an important event as we recognise those in our communities that continue to offer their time and resources to other residents.

“We have six categories for people to nominate their heroes in and I look forward to reading the nominations throughout the next few weeks.

“If you have someone in mind that you would like to thank and recognise for all of their work that they do then please nominate them to be a Charnwood Community Hero now.”

Nicola Clarke, community engagement officer at idverde, said: “It is great to support Charnwood Community Heroes once again and I would like to encourage residents to get their nominations in before the deadline.”

George Oliver, managing director of 1284, a Loughborough-based communications strategy consultancy, said: “As someone who is a resident and businesses owner in Charnwood, I see first hand the impact that volunteers have on the community.

“Charnwood Community Heroes is a great opportunity for residents to show their appreciation for those that do so much.”

Jo Mortimer, contracts manager at Serco, said: “Serco is proud to support this event to recognise our local heroes and the difference they make to so many people’s lives.”
