Charnwood residents are invited to take snaps of their favourite parks and open spaces in the borough for a photo competition.

Charnwood Borough Council launched the competition in 2021 as part of the ‘Love the outdoors in Charnwood’ campaign to celebrate the borough’s fantastic range of country parks, nature reserves and ancient woodlands.

Since 2021, over 250 photographs of wildlife and open spaces across the area have been submitted by residents, and it is hoped people of all ages will get involved once again.

All residents need to do to enter is grab their phones or cameras and capture photographs at their favourite park or open space in Charnwood.

Cllr Anne Gray, the Council’s lead member for open spaces, said: “This photo competition is a great chance to see the borough’s fantastic range of open spaces, woodlands and parks through the eyes of our residents.

“It’s the perfect chance to explore the outdoors while also taking a photo or two.

“So whether you’re visiting a park on your lunch break, spot wildlife on a weekend stroll or visit one of the nature reserves with the little ones during the summer holidays, take a moment to capture a photo.”

Photos need to have been taken in the last six months and there are three different categories to enter:

  • Open category (age 16 and above)
  • Young photographer (under 16s)
  • Wonderful wildlife (open to all ages)

The competition is also being supported by Love Loughborough BID and vouchers will be up for grabs for the winner and two runners-up in each category.

Category winners will receive a £50 voucher and a £25 voucher will be awarded to each runner-up.

A selection of photos will be shared across the Council’s social media channels after the winners have been announced.

Lisa Brown, manager at Love Loughborough BID said: “We are pleased to be supporting this competition once again.

“Charnwood is home to a large number of spectacular parks and open spaces and I am really looking forward to seeing this year’s entries.”

Entries close at 5pm on Tuesday August 27, 2024 and winners will be contacted directly.
