Deadline approaching for consultation over Charnwood Local Plan modifications
Published: Tue 20th August, 2024
Time is running out to have a say in a consultation over proposed changes to the draft Charnwood Local Plan 2021-37 as the process to develop it reaches an advanced stage.
The draft Local Plan provides a robust strategy for growth in Charnwood and identifies how the borough will meet Government targets for new homes, as well as providing employment land and critical infrastructure. It will also help safeguard the environment.
Several phases of consultation have been carried out in recent years and the plan is currently being scrutinised by independent planning inspectors in the examination phase.
Following a series of public hearings, a consultation on some proposed changes, or main modifications, was launched in July.
The deadline for responses to be submitted as part of the consultation is 5pm on Wednesday, 4 September 2024.

Paper copies of the modifications will also be placed in the Council offices in Southfield Road, Loughborough. Responses can be submitted in writing to the Local Plans Team, Charnwood Borough Council, Southfield Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire LE11 2TN.
When the consultation ends, the planning inspectors will consider any comments made before writing a report to the Council about if the Charnwood Local Plan 2021-37 is sound based on the changes made as part of the main modifications consultation. The Council can then consider adopting it.
