Visitors of all ages enjoyed a weekend of fun and music at Southfields Park in Loughborough.

The Music in the Park event was held on Saturday and Sunday, 14 and 15 September and was filled with great live performances from bands, singer-songwriters and musicians along with activities and stalls from a number of local traders.

Charnwood Borough Council organised the event, kindly sponsored by Loughborough Schools Foundation.

Performers included musicians and singers Ollie Hayes, Charlotte Beaver, Sarah Clarke, Ruth Chomik, Lacky C and Olly Evans. There were also performances by bands including Quorn Ukulele Band, Loughborough Student Union (LSU) Tuxedo Swing Band, Charnwood Symphonic Wind Orchestra and Danny Round & Band.

Visitors had some fantastic options for food and treats, including hot dogs, cakes, crepes, donuts and more.

Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, the Council’s lead member for economic development, regeneration and town centres, said: “I am so pleased to see so many residents and visitors of all ages enjoy the Music in the Park event over the weekend.

“We have expanded our events programme for 2024 and Southfields Park has enjoyed two fantastic weekends this year, with the Celebrating Charnwood event that took place in June.

“With Loughborough Fair and festive events coming in the next few months, there is a lot for people across the borough and beyond to look forward to and get excited about.”

The Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE attended the event on Saturday, 14 September.

Music in the Park is one of several events which form part of the Living Loughborough project which is being supported by Loughborough Town Deal. The Town Deal secured £16.9 million from the Government’s Towns Fund to support 11 projects and in total, they are worth more than £40 million of investment.
