Support your local businesses on Small Business Saturday

Published: Tue 3rd December, 2024

Residents are being encouraged to support local businesses in the run up to Christmas.

Small Business Saturday returns on Saturday, 7 December and is asking people to shop small where they can.

Charnwood Borough Council, in partnership with Discover Charnwood, is also encouraging people to support their local highstreets with the Shop Charnwood campaign currently ongoing.

The campaign aims to showcase the fantastic local businesses and highstreets in the borough with a number of case studies.

Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, the Council’s lead member for economic development, regeneration and town centres, said: “Our local businesses and highstreets are vitally important to our towns and villages and the communities they are in.

“Here in Charnwood we have so many great businesses to shout about and they need our support so whether you are doing a bit of Christmas shopping or want to leave them a review, it is all so important to them.”

A web page has been created on the Discover Charnwood website for the Shop Charnwood campaign and promotions of businesses have been shared since the launch in October.

Residents can nominate businesses to feature and also support local businesses in many different ways which doesn’t necessarily mean making a purchase – businesses can be supported through sharing social media content, leaving a positive review and spreading the word about them to friends and family.
