Mayor of Charnwood's Christmas and New Year's message

Published: Tue 17th December, 2024

It is with such immense joy that in the 50th year of the formation of the borough of Charnwood, we took office as Mayor and Mayoress. We feel extremely privileged to be sending this heartfelt Christmas message to you all and wanted to share what a wonderful year it has been for us so far.

We have attended a huge number of events, meeting many lovely people in our borough and finding out so much about Charnwood. Whilst I have lived in Loughborough since 1983, what goes on in our community has truly amazed both myself and the Mayoress. It would need a few pages to list all our ‘favourite’ events we have attended because each and every one, has been our ‘favourite’. We know that Santa will want to bless you with deserved presents and love.

We were also very fortunate already to have met Santa and Mrs Claus at the Great Central Railway in July, yes summer! They even brought their baby reindeer to show us. It was, indeed, extraordinary and such a surprise.

Whilst Christmas is a celebration for many, we ask that you also remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves, and to consider them this Christmas. Huge thanks go out to all those voluntary and charitable organisations, such as Age UK, Salvation Army and many others who provide for those in need.

So, this Christmas 2024, may we take this moment to send you all our very best wishes for a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful and Prosperous New Year 2025.

Take care.

Cllr Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE and Julie Ellerbeck,
Mayor and Mayoress of Charnwood
