Action-packed year of events planned in Charnwood

Published: Tue 4th March, 2025

A series of exciting events are due to take place this year in Charnwood for residents and visitors to enjoy.

From specialist markets and a summer music event to historic favourites such as Loughborough Fair, there is something for everyone to enjoy in 2025.

Many of the events are being operated by Charnwood Borough Council in partnership with a variety of partners and other agencies.

Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, the Council’s lead member for economic development, regeneration and town centres, said: “I am delighted to announce the events programme for 2025 and there is certainly a lot to look forward to.

“Nearly every single one of these events are free to attend and there is something for all ages and the whole family.

“It is important that we continue to run these types of events for residents and visitors as they not only create vital footfall within our town centres but also help boost our local economy.”

A number of specialist markets will take place throughout the year alongside the weekly retail and vintage offerings in Loughborough. March will see a vegan, artisan and KickStart market taking place. This year will also see the return of an antiques and ceramics market.

Southfields Park in Loughborough will be hosting several events in 2025 with Pinders Circus returning over the Easter weekend. The open space in the centre of Loughborough will also play host to the May Day Bank Holiday Fair and a summer music festival featuring local artists and tribute acts.

Those who love gardening will be able to prepare and plant their gardens with a number of the popular Love Loughborough Gardeners’ Fair being held throughout the year.

Musical groups from across the borough will perform in the bandstand in Queen’s Park throughout the summer.

The year will once again be rounded off by the historic Loughborough Fair and the annual Christmas Lights Switch-on – both attracting thousands of visitors to the town centre.
