Action taken to cut emissions

The Council has taken a number of actions to cut our own emissions and emissions within our communities and borough.

As of 2023, the steps taken to cut emissions include:

• Seven new electric vehicle charging points in Anstey and Sileby
• 4,000 free trees given away in 2023
• Supported biodiversity project in Cropston
• Grant to community group for solar panels
• Backed a community sustainability fair
• Grant to support community fresh produce scheme
• Launched new recycling campaign
• Planted 14,000 trees in 2023
• LED lighting in buildings including Loughborough Town Hall stage
• Using six electric vehicles with more coming
• Hybrid pool car for colleagues
• Climate emergency declared
• E-bike available for colleagues
• Green rewards scheme to encourage behaviour change.
