Building for Life is an industry standard which aims to create a great local community for people to live in.
Standard leaders, Design Council Cabe, believe that housing should be attractive, functional and sustainable.
The standard comprises 12 questions which reflect the vision of what modern housing developments should be, The 12 questions are designed to help structure discussions between local communities, the local planning authority, the developer of a proposed scheme and other stakeholders.
Schemes that are considered to have achieved 12 greens will be eligble for 'Building for Life Diamond' status as exemplars giving developers and local authorities the opportunity to acknowledge and promote good design.
