The Charnwood Community Grants programme is an amalgamation of the Community Development and Engagement grant, Loughborough Community Engagement Grant and the Sport and Physical activity grants providing a more simplified single point for all applications.

Charnwood Community Grants can provide up to £5,000 for organisations currently running projects with community benefit in Charnwood, including organisational running costs (for up to one year), environmental projects and one-off contributions for equipment costs.

A maximum of 2 grants can be applied for across all grant programmes in 2024/25 including Small, Community and *Facilities Grants for different organisational and project activities costs.

*Please contact Tina Robinson VCS Development Officer tina.robinson@charnwood.gov.uk before applying for a Facilities Grant to ensure eligibility criteria will be met.

Priority will be given to requests from eligible Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS)organisations to deliver community-based projects and activities that are specifically focused on improving the lives, health and wellbeing of vulnerable and disadvantaged people and communities in Charnwood. Requests to mitigate the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on VCS organisations and those they support will be of particular interest.

For further information, advice or assistance please contact Grants Administration.

Applying for community grants

It is important to note the application form is now on-line and cannot be saved and reopened and will ‘timeout’ at midnight.  It is therefore strongly recommended that the application form pre-view is read and all required supporting documents and answers the to questions are prepared before the application is started.

Eligible applications are assessed against the criteria by our Cabinet for this grant scheme - our guidance notes explain the criteria.

Charnwood Community Grants - Applicant Guidance Notes

Please read the guidance notes in full before you complete the application form. Applicants are advised to submit their applications as early as possible rather than waiting until the deadline, this will give us more opportunity to ask for further information if we need it to make a proper assessment.
