Thurcaston and Cropston Neighbourhood Plan referendum

The result of the referendum on whether to adopt the Thurcaston and Cropston Neighbourhood Plan was as follows:

Yes: 612 No: 22 Turnout: 36.85%

Shepshed East by-election

The result for the Shepshed Town Council West Ward by-election, held on Thursday, November 10, 2016, was as follows:

  • COCHRANE, Donald Peter, Liberal Democrat, 92
  • GRAINGER, Peter, Conservative Party Candidate, 293
  • KERSHAW, Roy, Labour Party, 234
  • MONTAGUE, Edward Paul, Independent Free State of Shepshed, 35
  • SHARMAN, Joy Elaine, UK Independence Party UKIP, 83
  • WARDLE, Andrea Joy, 26

Peter Grainger has been duly elected to represent the East Ward on Shepshed Town Council.

Loughborough Business Improvement District (BID) Renewal

A ballot has been held of businesses in Loughborough town centre about whether Loughborough BID (also known as Love Loughborough) should continue for a second five-year term.

The ballot result is in favour of the BID team continuing for a second term and the result was as follows:

  • Total number of votes cast in the ballot, excluding any given on ballot papers rejected: 312
  • Aggregate rateable value of each hereditament in respect of which a person voted in the ballot: £9,830,500
  • Total number of votes cast in favour of the proposed BID for Loughborough Renewal: 224 (71.8%)
  • Aggregate rateable value of each hereditament in respect of which a person voting in the ballot has voted in favour of the proposed Business Improvement District for Loughborough Renewal: £6,692,900
  • The turnout was 56%

In order to secure a second term, the proposal had to be supported by more than 50 per cent of those who voted and 50 per cent of the rateable value of the businesses. The official declaration document is below.

The result for the Shepshed Town Council West Ward by-election, held on Thursday, September 29, 2016, was as follows:

  • FORSTER, Denis, Conservative Party Candidate, 293
  • KERSHAW, Roy, Labour Party, 232
  • MONTAGUE, Edward Paul, IFSS Candidate, 49
  • SHARMAN, Joy Elaine, UK Independence Party UKIP, 149

Denis Forster has been duly elected to represent the West Ward on Shepshed Town Council.
