Business rates full property list

The below dataset includes all properties in the Charnwood Borough Council area that are subject to business rates. The data includes property reference and address, the ratepayers name, the current rateable value and whether the property is subject to any rate reliefs.

This information will be updated in regular intervals.

The ratepayers name and address will only be shown for companies and other organisations. If the ratepayer is an individual those fields will be blank in accordance with the Data Protection legislation.

Empty property details have been withheld in accordance with Exemption 31(1)(a) of the Freedom of Information Act, as the release of large numbers of empty properties can, and have been attempted to be, used to perpetrate fraud or for other criminal purposes. The public interest in this case is to withhold the information in order to prevent the attempted criminal actions.

You do not have to apply or ask for permission to use a published dataset; however you are required to agree to the terms of the Open Government Licence for public sector information. Otherwise, you are free to use the data as you wish provided it is attributed to us.

Credit Balances

It is the intention of the Council to refund any overpayment of business rates with the minimum of delay. The rate accounts show that for the last 5 years there were no credits outstanding at the end of the financial year.

There are occasions where the Council is unable to refund an overpayment which is then written back onto the account.
