The Healthy Workplaces Leicestershire programme helps organisations of all sizes across the county to become healthier places to work.

The tailored programme has been designed in collaboration with, and for Leicestershire businesses, helping to ensure that the support that is most needed by the county's workforce is available to them and their organisations.

Charnwood Borough Council signed up to the programme as a commitment to health and wellbeing for all of its employees, and has since submitted evidence which demonstrated completion of its goals and targets achieving a 'Committed' accreditation.

Some examples of how this was achieved:

  • Promoted Quit Ready - Which is a free and confidential 12-week programme to help you become and stay smoke free. They will be by your side to offer support and advice on your quit journey
  • Continue to provide free fruit to employees
  • Trained 12 mental health first aiders, who meet once a quarter to discuss anything that needs further attention or support
  • Encouraged employees to visit the Money Helper website - Money Helper provides free, unbiased independent money, pensions and benefits advice

The council is now working with Healthy Workplaces Leicestershire to achieve an 'Empowered' accreditation.
