Saturday August 15 will mark 75 years since Victory over Japan (VJ) Day and the end of the Second World War.
Residents are being encouraged to mark the occasion while following social distancing guidelines which could include taking part in a national momement of remembrance, making and displaying bunting and putting posters up in windows.
The Carillon Tower in Loughborough will play a short recital at 11.10am and flags will be flown from the Loughborough Town Hall.
National commemorations
There is a range of national commemorations taking place on VJ Day this year including:
- VJ Day 75: The Nation Remembers (BBC One) - 9.30am-11.30am
- 11am - A two-minute silence of remembrance
- 11.10am - Ringing for Peace across the nation
- VJ Day 75: The Nation’s Tribute (BBC One) - 8.30pm-10pm
