Celebrating Charnwood event to take place this weekend!

Free outdoor cinema screenings, funfair rides and food and drink stalls will be coming to Southfields Park in Loughborough this weekend.

The Celebrating Charnwood event, operated by Charnwood Borough Council will be a weekend of fun for all ages on Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30.

The event, kindly supported by headline sponsor, Loughborough Schools Foundation, will also feature activities led by military personnel to mark Armed Forces Day 2024.

Three family-friendly, blockbuster films will be shown each day. The new summer event also marks the 50th anniversary of Charnwood and the borough council.

Amra Osmanagic, events manager at Charnwood Borough Council, said: “We are very much looking forward to what will be a memorable weekend at Southfields Park for the Celebrating Charnwood event.

“It will be fantastic to welcome residents and visitors of all ages to the park for a great variety of activities including film screenings, funfair rides and food and drink stalls. There will certainly be something for everyone to enjoy!”

The event will take place from 12pm-8pm on Saturday, June 29 and 10am-6pm on Sunday, June 30.

The following films will be shown:

Saturday June 29:

  • 12.30pm - Wonka
  • 3pm - Greatest Showman
  • 5.30pm - Mamma Mia

Sunday 30th June:

  • 10.30am -Trolls Band Together
  • 1pm - Matilda the musical
  • 3.30pm – Grease

The event will include a variety of food and drink stalls along with community stalls from local traders.

A fully licensed bar will also be available for visitors attending the Celebrating Charnwood event.

The Beehive Lane multi-storey car park and Southfield Road car parks are available during the event. Southfield offices car park will also be open to the public.
