Six-month old bull terrier Rosie is on her way to a new home thanks to the power of social media.
The Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Dr Julie Bradshaw MBE, paid a visit to Dogs Trust Loughborough on Thursday June 20.
Dogs Trust is one of the Mayor’s chosen charities and it cares for and rehomes dogs when they are in need. it also lends a helping hand to owners who may be struggling to look after their beloved pets.
The Mayor, and Mayoress Julie Ellerbeck, were given a tour of the premises, which included a visit to the play area, where Rosie was having fun with her trainer.
She made a big impression on the Mayor and wasn’t camera shy, featuring on Charnwood Borough Council’s social media channels.
It was on social media that Rosie’s new owners Joules Gomersall and Karen Setchell, from Barrow upon Soar, saw the pup and contacted Dogs Trust Loughborough to find out if she was available and if they could meet her.
The meet up went exceptionally well, and Rosie now has a new home.
The Mayor said: “What a fantastic result for Joules and Karen, and of course for Rosie, too. Every dog deserves a good home, and I’m certain that Rosie will have an amazing life with her new owners.
“Social media can be a force for good and I am so glad that my visit yielded such a positive result. Let’s hope we can find more homes for the other dogs!
“Thanks again to Dogs Trust Loughborough for everything that you do to improve the lives of these beautiful animals.”
Megan Pearce, supporter relations officer at Dogs Trust Loughborough, said: “Rosie is a fantastic dog with such a lovely personality, and we are so pleased that she has a new home to go to.
“We were extremely proud to be chosen as one of the Mayor’s charities, and this is a great start to our partnership. It’s going to be a fun, successful and rewarding 12 months.”
Rosie’s new owners Joules and Karen said: “We are glad to have been able to rehome Rosie from Dog's Trust Loughborough.
