A draft Charnwood Air Quality Strategy for 2025-30 has been published.
The new strategy, developed by the borough council sets out how the Council will work with residents, stakeholders and businesses to improve air quality in the area.
The points of the draft Air Quality Strategy include:
- the actions that the borough council will deliver between 2025 and 2030 in order to reduce concentrations of air pollutants and exposure to air pollution
- reducing health inequalities from air pollution
- raising public awareness of the health implications of poor air quality
- reducing domestic, industrial and agricultural emissions
- reducing emissions from road transport.

Consultation
People are being asked to have their say on the new strategy.
A consultation has been launched for residents and businesses to have their say on the draft strategy, make suggestions or raise any concerns they may have about the air quality in the borough.
The consultation will run until 11.59pm on Monday, 24 March 2025.
The Council is clear that improving air quality in the area is the responsibility of multiple agencies, businesses and local communities.
