Tenants and leaseholders of all ages are being invited to express their creativity as part of a new competition.
The Council introduced the Charnwood Creative Competition last year and received some great entries from people across the borough.
The competition is now open for 2025. We are inviting tenants and leaseholders of all ages to showcase their creativity through drawing, painting, creative writing, photography, arts and crafts, and poetry.
The theme last year was ‘Home’ and encouraged participants to create works inspired by their home, town, village, or Charnwood as a whole.
This year, there is no theme but a question, aimed at inspiring potential entrants: ‘What makes you happy?’
It could be a view, a favourite place to walk your dog, a childhood memory. If it makes you happy, let it be your creative guide.
With categories catering to different age groups and artistic disciplines, the competition offers a fantastic opportunity for Council tenants to share their talents.
Categories
The categories are:
- Creative writing – under 10 years
- Creative writing – 11-18 years
- Creative writing – over 18 years
- Photography, arts and crafts – under 10 years
- Photography, arts and crafts – 11-18 years
- Photography, arts and crafts – over 18 years
The deadline for entries is 31 July 2025.
Winners will receive £50 in high street vouchers, while runners-up will be awarded £25 vouchers.
Shortlisted entrants will be presented with their vouchers and have their work displayed at a special awards presentation taking place at Loughborough Town Hall later this year.
Terms and conditions
Full terms and conditions can be found below, but here is a summary:
- Entrants must be a council tenant or leaseholder
- You can submit works in both categories for your age group
- Creative writing entries must be under 500 words
- Content must be appropriate – no swearing and no offensive or sexual content.
