Your yearly council tax is usually paid by you in ten instalments, normally on the first day of each month, from April to January which means you do not pay anything in February and March.

You may also apply in writing to pay over 12 instalments (For applications received after April 15, the number of instalments will equal the number of full months left in the financial year. For example, if you apply in July, your payments over the next nine months will be higher).

You can pay by:

Direct Debit

You can set up a direct debit using your online Council Tax account or by phone 01509 634666. Please have your bank account details for the account to be used to pay. 

You can choose from a monthly instalment date of either 3rd, 15th or 25th of the month.

If your bank account needs more than one authorised signatory to approve any new transaction, you will need to complete a direct debit form and return it to us. Please use this online form to request a paper direct debit form is sent to you. Please include your Council Tax account number and address in your email.

In-person

By presenting your bar-coded invoice at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet, along with your payment. Cash payments can be made for free at all PayPoint outlets and at the Post Office you can pay by cash, cheque or debit card for free.

For any tele/internet banking you will need the following information:

  • Sort Code: 40-30-24
  • Account Number: 61820559

You will need to enter the account number shown on your bill or notice, prefixed with ‘78’.
