Loughborough Cemetery fees and charges 2024-25

Below are the Loughborough Cemetery fees and charges from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. This relates to both the Leicester Road Cemetery and Nanpantan Road cemeteries.

Please note that we no longer accept cash, cheque and chip and pin payments at the Charnwood Borough Council offices at Southfields. Customers are encouraged to make payments online in the first instance, but you will still be able to make payments at Post Offices and Paypoint outlets.

Interments

The Interment Fee includes digging the grave.

For interments in any part of Leicester Rd Cemetery and Nanpantan.

Of the body or body parts of a still-born or of a child who at the time of death had not attained the age of 4 years:-

Loughborough Resident = NO CHARGE
Resident of Charnwood Borough = £190.00
Non-Charnwood Resident = £285.00

Of the body of a child who at the time of death was aged 4 years but had not attained the age of 16 years:-

Loughborough Resident = NO CHARGE
Resident of Charnwood Borough  =£272.00
Non-Charnwood Resident = £408.00

Of the body of a person who at the time of death was 16 years and over:-

Loughborough Resident = £708.00
Resident of Charnwood Borough = £1,416.00
Non-Charnwood Resident = £2,124.00
Muslim Cage – Additional Charge = £394.00

Of cremated remains:-

Any Residents (under 16 years of age) = NO CHARGE
Loughborough Resident (16 years and over) = £148.00
Resident of Charnwood Borough = £296.00
Non-Charnwood Resident = £444.00
Scattering of cremated remains – Residents/Non-Residents = £44.00

In a vaulted or walled grave:-

Loughborough Resident = £862.00
Resident of Charnwood = £1,724.00
Non-Charnwood Resident = £2,586.00
Exhumation of Confined Body = £5,544.00

Please note if a burial is to be carried out on a Saturday, double interment fees are charge.

For the exclusive right of a burial for a period of 100 years in:-

Traditional graves - A

• Loughborough Resident = £1,050.00
• Resident of Charnwood = £2,100.00
• Non-Charnwood Resident = £3,150.00

Lawned graves – D

• Loughborough Resident = £806.00
• Resident of Charnwood = £1,612.00
• Non-Charnwood Resident = £2,418.00

Cremated remains – E

• Loughborough Resident = £298.00
• Resident of Charnwood = £596.00
• Non-Charnwood Resident = £894.00

Children’s graves – C

• Loughborough Resident = £288.00
• Resident of Charnwood = £576.00
• Non-Charnwood Resident = £864.00

Pre-purchase of grave or cremation plots is not permitted at Leicester Road cemetery.

Pre-purchase of grave and cremation plots are permitted at Nanpatan cemetery all plots are next in line only.

Miscellaneous charges

Searches of Burial Register

• Copy of each entry in the Burial Register where death occurred, within five years of search = NO CHARGE
• Copy of each entry in the Burial register when death occurred more than five years before search = £55.00 +VAT.

Notes on charges for Loughborough residents, residents of Charnwood and non-Charnwood residents

In respect of the Fees and Charges set out under INTERMENTS and EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS, to ensure that residents who contribute towards the Loughborough Special Rate are recognised by an appropriate charge.

The following scale of fees applies:

Single fees

• Anyone living in the Loughborough Council Tax area at the time of death.
• For residents living in care homes outside the area for less than twelve months prior to date of death, evidence must be provided by the Funeral Director/applicant to qualify for singles fees e.g. Council Tax bill.

Double fees

• Anyone living elsewhere in the Borough of Charnwood at the time of death.
• For residents living in care homes outside the area for less than twelve months prior to date of death, evidence must be provided by the Funeral Director/applicant to qualify for singles fees e.g. Council Tax bill. 

Treble fees

• For all non-residents of the Borough of Charnwood.
• Please note if a burial is to be carried out on a Saturday, double interment fees are charged.
