Stonebow Washlands is a Local Wildlife Site situated off Maxwell Drive in Thorpe Acre, Loughborough.
It's the perfect place for local residents to walk and be amongst local nature.
The site can be accessed by foot from Mount Grace Road, off Maxwell Drive. It is also easily reached by bus. (Kinchbus no. 12 stops a short walk away on Maxwell Drive).
Created in the 1980s the main role of the Washlands is to provide flood alleviation, but it is also a rich wildlife site and provides informal recreation for local residents.
There are no separate parking facilities at Stonebow Washlands. However, there is pedestrian access only from the junction of Lindisfarne Drive and Mount Grace Road.
Stonebow Washlands regularly benefits from the work of conservation volunteers to ensure Loughborough continues to protect and enhance local wildlife.
