Bookings are now being taken for groups to come to visit the Mayor for a Civic Presentation and take a look around the Preston Room at Woodgate Chambers.
This gives residents of the borough an excellent opportunity to learn more about the history of the Office of Mayor of Charnwood, the Mayor's robes and chains and ask any questions they have.
Presentations can be tailored to individual audiences, and the Civic Officers are experienced in working with groups of all ages, and seek to make the presentation both engaging and informative.
How to book a visit
Visits can be booked for either the daytime or evening, subject to the availability of the Mayor, and normally last around 90 minutes. Guests are seated in the Preston Room and greeted by the Mayor dressed in their robe and chain.
Light refreshments are served while the guests have an opportunity to chat with the Mayor and look around the council chamber. If you are interested in booking a Civic Presentation then please contact the Mayor's Office or complete the online request form using the link below.
Presentations to schools
The Mayor also visits schools to discuss and explain his/her role in relation to local democracy. A leaflet outlining the kind of information provided by the Mayor is available from the Mayor's Office, or in downloadable format below:
