There are many war memorials in Charnwood, with the Carillon in Queen's Park the only one which the Council is responsible for.
Many of the war memorials in our Borough are also Listed Buildings. To honour the centenary of WWI, Historic England have embarked on a project to list 500 additional war memorials between 2014-18. Information on the project and how you can submit a war memorial for listing can be found on the Historic England website.
To collate information on War Memorials across the county, Leicestershire County Council have created a comprehensive database of all types of war memorial in the county.
More information about war memorials generally can be found at the War Memorials Trust who work for the protection and conservation of war memorials in the UK.
