The council wants to improve the quality of accommodation for older people.

Over the autumn and winter, residents’ views will be gathered through a survey and workshops with current and potential future residents. We and our consultants will also be visiting our sheltered schemes to look at the existing facilities over the next few months. View a list of our sheltered schemes.

A report containing options for consideration will be presented to the council’s Cabinet in the next few months.

This is a long term plan which aims to see accommodation improved over time. We will keep you informed as the project progresses.

If you have any questions, please contact our older persons team. Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and you can reach us by calling 01509 634666.

We want to hear from you

As part of our research into the types of council homes people over 60 want to live in, we have created two online surveys for people to complete:

  • One survey is for tenants who live in sheltered accommodation owned by Charnwood Borough Council
  • The other survey is for general residents who are 60 years of age, or due to turn 60 within the 5 years

We know that we’re living in a constantly changing world and want to see how we can ensure our homes and any services provided meet future expectations.

We are seeking the views of those over the age of 60 years, or due to turn 60 within the next 5 years.

Please spend ten minutes answering these eleven questions.

Please complete the survey before Sunday, 20 October 2024. We’ll then pick five names at random to receive a £50 shopping voucher.

Thank you for your time.
